CANDY KOMA is the electric collision of cinematic sound and pop polish—a side project born from the creative overflow of music crafted for the hit TV series EMPIRE.  At its heart are renowned vocalist Ashley Ballard and award-winning composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Carlos Villalobos, whose musical partnership dates back to 2004.

When EMPIRE called for something fresh and emotionally charged, Carlos turned to the one collaborator he trusted to elevate the vision: Ashley B.  What began as a few songs quickly evolved into a full-fledged sonic experiment.  CANDY KOMA is the result—what started as leftover tracks quickly evolved into a fully-formed pop side project—infused with the pulse of hip-hop, the smoothness of R&B, the punch of pop, and the depth of soul.

CANDY KOMA is bold, genre-blending, and unapologetically real.  Born from the screen but made for the speakers, it’s the sound of two seasoned artists creating without limits.
